About Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy uses hands-on techniques to address muscles, fascia, joints, and soft tissue. At Club Five Health, manual therapy is customized to your needs and can be used to support pain relief, mobility, rehabilitation, recovery, and performance.

What Is Manual Therapy?

Manual Therapy is hands-on care, not the same as massage. While both use hands-on techniques, manual therapy is typically performed as part of a clinical treatment plan focused on movement, function, pain, and rehabilitation. Providers may use a combination of techniques based on your condition and goals, including myofascial release, IASTM, cupping, pin and stretch, flexion-distraction, chiropractic techniques, percussion therapy, and soft-tissue mobilization. Rather than using the same technique for everyone, we select the approaches that best fit your body and treatment goals.

How Manual Therapy Works

Your provider evaluates your movement and the areas you are experiencing difficulty with before selecting the appropriate techniques. Treatment may involve pressure, stretching, joint movement, or soft-tissue work. Some techniques may create mild temporary discomfort, but treatment should remain tolerable. Treatment time varies depending on the technique and your treatment plan. Manual therapy is often most effective when combined with active rehabilitation and other Club Five therapies.

Muscle Tightness

Hands-on techniques can be used when muscle tightness or muscle and joint discomfort is part of the plan.

Limited Mobility

Treatment is selected to support movement and function when mobility is limited.

Sports Injuries

Manual therapy may be incorporated into programs for sports injuries, athletic performance, and exercise recovery.

Rehabilitation

It often sits beside active rehabilitation so the plan addresses both how you feel and how you move.

Who It Is For

Manual Therapy may be incorporated into programs for muscle tightness, joint and muscle discomfort, limited mobility, sports injuries, exercise recovery, postural and movement issues, rehabilitation, and athletic performance. Athletes can use it in recovery, mobility, injury rehabilitation, and performance programs.
